GOT A LIGHT?

What do you do if your power goes out and you can't find a candle or a lighter to light it with?

What if your kids have removed the batteries from all the flashlights for their games or other goodies?

What if your generator won't generate?

Do you have any solar lights that you put out on by the patio or that line your driveway or walkway? If you do, you could bring them into your house and have just about all the light you need. Just recharge them the next day.

Just something to think about. You never know when you might need some extra light around the house.

  2. Nope, I don't have any of those but I do have about 50 boxes of matches and 20 gallons of lamp oil with just as many lamps.
If all else fails we could walk around the house with our cell phones until we found the matches.
I have thought about solar lighting for the patio but never done it.

  3. MDR, The patio lights are nice in the summer. as for the oil lamps. How big are they? My great grand mother had one that hung from the ceiling in the dinning room. It was on a rope with a pulley. Those lamps can come in mighty handy at times.

  4. I have seen 6 oil lamps attached to a wagon wheel and put on a pulley attached to a rope so it could be lowered to light. They but off a great amount of light.
I use mine mostly in the winter to add heat plus the light. One problem is the oil cost so much. It is cheaper to run your lights than to light up the whole house with lamps.

  5. I have good old kerosene lamps in every room of my house, and use Coleman lanterns as backups. Merry Christmas and God bless my friend.

  6. That's a great tip! I never thought about using our solar lights and will definitely use them as Plan B. We have about 8 oil lamps we currently use when we lose electric. With both of us growing up on farms, that's all we ever knew to use ;)
