Well, I missed posting on Monday. Had to do some errands. So, I didn't get a quote up. I am taking my son to his doctor appointments on Monday mornings. Yesterday, after we were done at the doctor, we went by Fort Logan National Cemetery. I wanted to meet some of the guys who are in the Colorado Patriot Guard Riders.
We met, we talked, and I and my son were asked if we would like to stand with them for a fallen soldier. I'm now a member of the Colorado Patriot Guard. I was humbled and honored to be able to stand for one who has stood for us.
I'm looking forward to doing more. Now I'm really wanting to get another motorcycle. They have some awesome bikes. I've already got one picked out. Now it's just a matter of time and dollars. But it will come.
The Patriot Guard was on hand for my nephew's funeral when he was killed in Afghanistan. They did a fantastic job. I'm just sorry that I didn't join sooner. So, I'll drive my truck until I can get a bike. Kathi will have a hoot when I get her on a Harley!
I see some future road trips coming up, too.
That is an honor for them as well. I didn't know about your nephew. I am grateful for his sacrifice. I'm sorry for your loss.
ReplyDeleteagirlandhergun, Thank you ever so much. We lost my nephew Grant, two years ago. He was wounded in Afghanistan. And passed from his wounds.
DeleteI did a post about him some time ago. Again, thank you.
Flier - congrats on joining the patriot guard - that is awesome buddy! i can't wait to hear of the adventures you and Kathi will get up to when you get your bike! Live to Ride Brother!
ReplyDeleteyour friend,
kymber
kymber, thanks, the people I've met have knocked my socks off. And I really look forward to doing as many missions,(As they call them.) that I can. It has already helped me with some of my own baggage.
DeleteAnd I CAN"T WAIT!! For us to get a bike. Money being the way it is right now, it might take a while. But, we will get one. I'm thinking, maybe another yard sale?? Know any one that wants a 67 Dodge Charger? Or, maybe I could go back to shaking my money maker, at the strip club.(Now that is a story, to be told, one of these day's, maybe.) And that depends on Kathi letting me let the cat out of the bag, so to speak. I better quit while I'm ahead. LOL!
A couple of years ago I was hot for a Harley. Went and kicked a few tires, bought a 'how to' rider video. One afternoon as I was about to slip the cash over the counter, my wife gave me a paper to sign. I asked what it was and she said, your new casket and burial plot receipt. Women. I still have the itch.
ReplyDeleteStephen, I know what you mean. Once you get bitten, it is hard to just leave it alone. And as far as the paper to sign. I have been there also. They do have some nice looking three wheelers out there. Doesn't hurt to look, or kick some tires. My wife has been on the Can Am spyder, a three wheeler, Two wheels in front, one in back. You ride it, and steer it like riding a four wheel ATV. They are fun, and a lot safer than a two wheeler. She would like to have one of them. But if we got it. I'd never see her, or get to ride it my self. LOL! She would hog it.
DeleteFlier, Thank you for standing with the Patriot Guard for a fallen soldier. God Bless your nephew for all that he has done for this country. I'm so sorry for your loss.
ReplyDeleteSandy, thank you. We lost him about two years ago, in Afghanistan. And I feel so honored to stand with these people. It really humbles a person. Plus, it means a lot to me.
DeleteAgain, thank you.
I think the Patriot Guards are amazing and a blessing! Good for you for joining.
ReplyDeletePeggy, Thank you. And thanks for stopping by.
